DIY Buffet Table / Book Shelf

Posted by DIYTechGuy in ,

We (my wife and I) have been needing a buffet table for an accent wall but it was impossible to find one here in Puerto Rico. So, I made one with similar dimensions as the Ikea version. (We didn't have an IKEA in PR until June of this year, and its small compared to the US version.)

Inspiration:  Ikea | Billy Wall Shelf
Budget:  ~$50 for two
Dimension: L49" x W12" x H13"

Ikea Billy Wall ShelfIt sure does the job of what we wanted, something modern but not to over the top. The depth of the inner box is just the right size to hold a wine bottle or two or maybe even sixteen, with a rack.

Here is a close up of the "buffet table". Nice and clean design and since the walls are cement its being held up by three tapcon screws.

Materials needed :
  • 2 - 1/2" (12 mm) x 4' x 8' panel
  • 1 - 3/4"  (18mm) x 2' x 2' (project panel)
  • Glue
  • Primer and Paint
  • Wood filler
  • screws
  • braid nailer or any other method you choose to put together
Cut-list and instructions to build will be updated in the next day or so.
